Residential & Commercial Roofing & Shingles
A roof can account for as much as 40% of your home’s exterior surface. Some surfaces are more beautiful and durable than others, and some are more affordable. Your roof has to be able to handle incredible conditions along with heat and freezing weather. If it is in poor condition, it could easily leak and possibly even cave in during a bad storm or with the weight of snow and ice.
Residential roofing materials have actually improved over 50 % in the past decade. This brings better quality materials that can last a lot longer than before. You have more designs and colors to choose from, and can even get the texture you want too.
As an experienced licensed residential roofing contractor, we have the knowledge along with over 20 years experience in roof repairs and installs. Our residential roofing services come with a no leak guarantee so you can rest assured your roof is working properly. Our consultants are highly trained in assisting and recovering small and large loss insurance claims.
Asphalt (or Composition) Shingles are the most widely used roofing products in the United States. They come in a variety of styles, shapes and colors, and are usually the most economical choice for residential and steep slope properties. The two styles of asphalt shingles are dimensional and 3-Tab.
Tile is generally made from one of two materials: concrete or clay. Roofing systems made from either concrete or clay are durable, aesthetically appealing, and relatively low in maintenance. They tend to be energy efficient, helping to maintain interior temperatures at a lower cost than other roofing systems. The biggest downfall of tile is that material and installation costs are considerably higher than asphalt shingles. However, because tile is so durable and low maintenance, manufacturers offer warranties that range from 50 years to the lifetime of the structure. For this reason, many feel that the price of tile is actually comparable to other systems.
Most metal roofing products consist of steel or aluminum. Steel is galvanized by the application of a zinc or zinc/aluminum coating, which reduces the rate of corrosion. Metal roofs are great for any type of roof and offer homeowners a multitude of colors to choose from. Most metal roofs are installed in sheets, but the past several years have seen an increase in stone coated steel products (see Specialty Products) which are made to look like shingles or tile. Like tile, the cost of metal roofing is initially higher than some other systems, but it has a longer lifetime than other materials (typically 2 to 3 times longer than asphalt or wood shingles), and can significantly lower heating and air conditioning costs.

Wood Shake & Shingles
There are two types of wood products commonly used on roofs, both are typically made of cedar: wood shake and wood shingles. Wood shakes are irregular and rough-textured. Wood shingles (or “shake perfect”) are cut to a specific size and have a smooth finish. Wood gives a natural, traditional look to a home while providing reliable, modern performance. However, wood also requires more maintenance to protect it from the elements. Mold, rot and insects can present problems. With proper care and maintenance, wood roofs have a life expectancy of up to 30 years, however, if the contractor uses low quality materials or if the workmanship is poor, the life of the roof can dramatically decline. Most wood roofing products are unrated by fire safety codes. Many use wipe or spray-on fire retardants, which are effective for a few years. Some pressure-treated products are impregnated with fire retardant and meet national fire safety standards.
The pictures to the right may look like regular shingle and tile roofs, but they are actually made of steel! Stone coated steel products have become very popular in the past several years. Steel is lightweight and durable, and with the stone coating, they look almost exactly like shingles or tile. These products are perfect for anyone wanting the look of tile without the heavy material, or the architectural look of shingles, but with added strength. Some manufacturers offer a 50 year manufacturer’s warranty including a 120 mph wind warranty.

Commercial Flat Roofs
There are a number of available options for commercial flat roofs. A relatively new product, Duro-Last, offers an exceptional product with a warranty to back it up. Duro-Last is a custom, pre-fabricated membrane. It is durable, single-ply, leak proof, and resistant to chemicals, fire and high winds. Furthermore, it is virtually maintenance free. Because the system is pre-fabricated in a controlled factory environment, there are no loud machines, fumes or hazardous materials to interrupt a busy commercial building at work. Duro-Last offers a 15-20 year warranty protecting against ponding water and damages to the interior of the building (including any property inside the building) that result from defects in the material. Duro-Last is energy efficient and is actually the only white, single-ply system rated by ENERGY STAR to retain reflectivity of greater than 85% after 3 years of weathering.
